I really wish the owner of the street would have let you race them side by side. One thing is for sure however, the IS REALLY needs a VDM cut-off switch (as you have proven). Then the mags will test it that way.

HAhahaha hummm that sounds like inside info to me.

Wait wait... what car is that under your sig? 550!!!

Nah I dont didnt even disable VDIM. Didnt do the pedal dance. I just diabled TRAC and let the traction control kick back in after 30mph. I used ECT PWR mode and left it in Drive. Not even S mode... but honestly S mode does nothing to improve perforamce... all its used for is to select max gear.

Default Me too

I ran a few with my gtimer the other day too with traction control off (just the switch not the dyno mode cheat), ECT set to power I posted a 5.17 0-60 with a 13.7 1/4 mile @ 101.7. I also ran a 5.3 0-60 with a 14.07 1/4 mile with the AC on full.

Basically, with that setup I was always within .1-.2 of 5.3. After 10 runs I don't have a single time above 5.6. I blew away (on the gtimer) a WRX STI - I don't think the owner knows how to "launch" his car and heavily moded SRT4 - (Who's owner does know how to drive) He had a 5.2 0-60 with no quarter mile times.

I think that the G-timer is fairly accurate, I've used it on quite a few cars and gotten very realistic results.

Awesome! I'm suprised how fast the IS 350 is... sounds like Lexus underrated the engine or somthing.

the torque curve is very flat and the engine is already making 90% torque around 2500+, gearing is optimized as well probably

na, I read it in C&D or something - it was an editor response to someone saying their IS would test faster if they would simply disable the VDM.

On that link on e60.net the one guy was claming a .4 sec reduciton in 1/4 mile time with it off. I'm still not sure how that is possible, but he has the slips from the track to prove it.

Of course I still maintain that if you had run against 545s and 550s without M-Aero kits and regular wheels they would have kicked your butt..... j/k

Hahah Think The M-Kit would decrese drag? Thats suppose to improve!! Hence ///M but as for wheels... I thought about that one... they all have larger than stock wheels... but think that can shave off 0.6 secs off a 545 or 0.3 secs off a 550 to beat the IS? Maybe the 550... but the 545? It would be a nice thought. I do want the 545 to be a 5 sec car like the IS.

All that extra plastic weight! let's see you put some aero mods and after market wheels on your IS and see how it does .... you will be lucky to run mid 6s!!!

I guess I'll have to dust off my G-Tech and see what number I can get up here in Santa Clarita. THe hardest thing is finding a level road. There is one perfect spot in the industrial center, but that is a big place for street racinng..... I would imagine that any smart cop would just be waiting at the end of it for some idiot like me trying to see how fast his car is!

I have read that the G-Tech is very accurate. But it is important to note that it measures 1/4 mile speed differently than a drag strip does. The G-Tech measure the speed at the end of the 1/4 mile whereas a track averages the speed between two lights at the end of the track. Therefore the track measurement will be slower.

Another difference I think has to do with staging, the G-Tech sarts as soon as you move, the track doesn't start until you cross the first light. If you stage as far back as possible you get a slight rolling start advantage.

Sooo wouldnt that average out too... since the G-Meter you dont get a rolling advantage and the track it averages out... I dunno...

With the Gtech you can actually set the rollout on it.
