The filter is inside the silver canister. Basicly you unscrew the left side of the silver canister (which is the lid). The filter sits inside. Pull the old filter out and put in the new. Replace the o-ring on the lid (which comes with the filter)(this is so the lid dont leak) and tighten it back down. Here is a link with a picture (of the filter elemnt and the o-rings) and a price of the filter from lexus-parts. Dont forget the CL code will give you 10% off that price. http://www.lexus-parts.com/partdetai...bCategoryID=41

Part 2 of the question is about the bolts. The three bolts in this picture are already removed. The black square hole around the filter is normally covered by a small flat panel hiding the filter. You can see the 3 bolt holes in the picture tho. One in on the bottom of the square hole right in the middle. And the other 2 are on the top of the square hole. One on the right one on the left. This is what holds the panel on. The panel and actual bolts are not shown in this picture as they were removed. Hope this helps. JIM

One more add to comment on the price and stuff of the place your taking it to. 1 Either they are lying to you about the whole cover being removed or they havent ever worked on a 06 IS (which might be the case). They are also chargeing over double the list price on the filter. If you walked into your local dealer the filters going to be less then 7.00 with tax. 13.00 is a nice mark up for them. This is just one of the many reasons why i dont take my car in.
