Does anyone know if the tool for the locking lug nuts is interchangeable?
Meaning could my friend borrow my tool to get their locking lug nut off? Or is the tool bolt/car specific, made only to work with the ones on each of the rims it comes with from the factory.
Maybe. There are probably 8-10 different patterns. You 2 may be lucky to have the same ones. They don't come from the factory.

the lexus dealer has the master set of keys. If your friend is in for service, have them take them off and swap them with standard ones. or, I bet if you swung by when they weren't busy, they'd do it as a courtesy, given their "Pursuit of Perfection".

I've observed my dealer doing the seasonal switchover between summer and snow tires, and they've never gone to the toolkit to retrieve the wheel key. That tells me that there can't be that many unique key patterns; they apparently have them all and can identify the correct one visually.

When I lost my Acura key, the Honda dealer was closer (and my other car was a Honda), so I thought I could stop in there and have them remove the lock. The tech pulled out the master kit, and tried each one to see if it fit the Acura lock (none did). There were 8 or 10 different patterns. I can't imagine Lexus is any different.

I use them on aftermarket wheels only. I never lose the key.
