Cool

all i can say is V1 is the best of the best! i usually baby my is350 but i drive crazy sometimes and its saved me from at least 50+ tickets in a period of 2 months. i think every radar detector will give false alarms, just go over to a local shopping center.https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/icons/icon7.gif
Smile but if you keep ignoring those false alarms it will be a habit and u will wish u never had when u get tickets!https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/icons/icon6.gif
Cool

I've had mine for a few years now. It falses fairly often, but never fails to get Ka, and that's what really counts in California. K band is really rare here for police but common for door openers. It doesn't take too long to figure out what's a real law enforcement radar and what isn't with any of the better detectors.

My V1 has saved me a lot of money.

I think the key to getting the most of a V1 is mastering the custom settings. I haven't yet, but I plan to put some elbow grease into it. So far, I've just disabled the X band, but I think there will be great advantages to playing around with the K band settings.

I've been thinking about getting a radar detector for a while now. I havent done much research lately, but I seem to be hearing a lot good things about the V1. Any suggestions on a retailer? Also, how does the install look with a hardwire power adapter? That's the biggest thing for me, I want a clean install thats not very intrusive. Post some pics of your setup! Someone needs to talk me into one of these soon... I tend to have a heavy foot lately... Thanks!

you can only buy the V1 directly from their website, they don't do channel sales.

or you may want to consider buying one on ebay if you just have to save a $1 or two, literally.

+1

X-Band is rarely used in the states anymore. That's one of the easiest custom settings you should do on your V1 is to disable X-Band. Washington State is now about 50/50 on K-Band and Ka-Band. Lidar/Laser is picking up quite a bit by WSP, especially north of Seattle now that they've got Camero's and modified Dodge Chargers to go after the 95+ MPH, triple digit speeders. At 100 MPH and you pull a reading off a speeder at 1,000 ft and it takes 15 seconds to put your lidar gun down, get in the car and start the chase, by the time you get up to 100 MPH the perp is at least 1/3 to 1/2 mile ahead of you.

Cheers,
Kermee

It's insane what the resale value of the V1's are... I love it.

I'm glad Lexus doesn't use the same business model! Imagine if it were like Scion - no negotiation, fixed pricing. Of course resale would be better...

no joke

I love the life-time upgrade option! It rocks!

I bought my V1 in '98 and it was the old version which was a large boxy unit and built like a tank. Than just before buying the IS I sent it back to the factory for an upgrade. They sent me back a brand-new unit in full retail box with accessories for 150$... I got the new POP features, the smaller form factor, and updated KA.

DAYUMN! I wish they were so generous when I asked for a discount on a replacement for my stolen 10 month old unit! They wouldn't give me ANY discount even when I offered to send copies of the police report, insurance claim, and pictures of the broken window.

pop mode came out in late 2000. most detectors didn't get them until maybe 2002. i did the same/similar as you did back around 2003.

Yeah now would be a good time. Too bad V1 hasn't incorporated GPS techology for false alerts and other cool things you could do.
