I can't believe folks would spend nearly 6k in brakes. Especially when the stockers aren't that bad. If you got money to burn I guess.

wow, very nice, awesome to see how they are supporting the lexus cars. hope they will have the same for other cars like GS and SC, etc... (future versions).

i wonder if these brakes will fit on the 3gs430 as well

Please tell me you guys actually NEED these. I haven't had an opportunity to take mine out on the track yet, but I expect the stock brakes to be absolutely fine! Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if these huge Stoptech calipers require a larger master cylinder to move them. You'll probably loose the responsive pedal feel that you're getting now from the stock brakes.

I'm a huge fan of Stoptech, amazing customer service/product, a few years ago I worked with Matt, Paul (no longer with ST)and Jeff (sales) to help develop the Volvo kit a few years ago.
As soon as I get extra funds, I'll be calling Jeff to place my order

The stock brakes should work well for novice/intermediate class lapping. However, the IS is no lightweight. At ~4000 lbs. (3620 +400 for driver and instructor), asking the stock rotors to stop the car from ~120 to 35 mph and 100 to about 30 every couple of minutes (front and back straights at my home track) with a lot of braking in between is asking a lot. While the stockers could probably handle that with upgraded pads, SS lines with motul or ate, a BBK is good insurance against the brake fade that could rear it's ugly head at the worst possible moment.
All conjecture. Stoptech does a lot of research in regard to brake bias and compatibility with the existing brake hardware. They are only offering the ST-60 calipers in front as they found that the less expensive and more popular ST-40's didn't work as well (piston sizing, pad shape and availability, etc.) Contrast that with other companies that will sell their brakes if they physically fit.

Tracking the car is an expensive proposition. I can get perhaps 4-5 days total from a set of gs-d3's or ps2's so that adds up to about $250-$350 in rubber per day. Add in gas, pads, rotor destruction, and the daily fee and you could be looking at $500-$700 a day when all is said and done (not to mention the day off work). $2*00 for the front kit is expensive in absolute terms. However, it's not in relative terms.

It is true that I don't KNOW for sure how sufficient the stock brakes are, but I haven't read any complaints either. Have you actually experienced significant brake fade on the track with this car yet?

My comment about the master cylinder is strictly from the experiences the S2000 guys are having with Stoptech kits (and other brands). I drove an S2000 with a full Stopteck kit, and it required WAY too much pedal travel for my taste.
