The New IS and GS was released first for LHD markets (i.e. North America) first before it was released in Japan and other countries.

My AWD has it, too. It drives my husband nuts, but it doesn't bother me. Maybe it is the way I have the seat adjusted??

Yes, but release timing has nothing to do with the design. I would not be surprised if Toyota designed the setup with RHD in mind, especially since RHD is in their home market and Japanese customers are notoriously fickle.

The "HUMP" is the most annoying thing about this car. It forces you to move your leg further to the left....and it's close to the brake pedal. So far, it's my only compaint......

Before I bought my IS, I saw the hump and was annoyed.

After 5 weeks now though, I never notice it's there. It doesn't get in the way at all.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Glad I never rode on that side of my Camaro...

I absolutely CAN NOT STAND THE HUMP!!! Jezus fkn christ youd think if we are spending 25-40k on a god damn car theyd keep the drivers Comfort in mind!! Im literally 2 seconds away from selling this piece of ****!! if you are tall your going to HATE it!!
UPDATE: I still cannot stand this hump! Im looking for different options at this point sadly. I love everything about this car so it makes me really sad. Its not necessarily the hump, its what the hump forces your foot to do. Only way you can have your foot straight, is if you put your foot all the way on the pedal, so your heel is at the base of the pedal. This is very uncomfortable though because your foot is tilted up so far. If you bring your foot down from the pedal at all, you will be forced to angle your foot, this is also uncomfortable after 30 minutes or so. I suggest anyone that test drives this car to drive for at least 30 minutes or more before making a decision.
