VDIM is always on.

Just a reminder to everyone, the pedal dance is the VSC/TRAC disable...not VDIM disable.

Since VDIM is part of VSC/TRAC, disabling it will technically turn off VDIM. BTW it will also turn off the correction of the steering wheel, which is also apart of VDIM.

Just curious, but how much do your cars weigh (IS350/IS250)? I've still to experience losing the rear end on my Aristo without the intent of doing so.

I'm guessing that if the 07's do come with a switch it will be something like the CTS V's and Corvettes. It will alow more slip or instability but not be totally off. The CTS V I test drove had 3 modes of stbility control.

True but it doesn't disable ABS, Brake Assist and VGRS which are integral to VDIM. The pedal dance was designed as a dyno mode for diagnostic testing purposes. It works on the 05 and newer Toyota Avalon, IS250, GS300, GS430. To date, the GS300 and IS250 and Avalon don't have VDIM.

Check this thread for info. I posted links to what VDIM is and how VSC & TRAC function.

Default More on VSC/TRC Control for '07

Not so lucky. Here's the official word from the 2007 RM:

Regarding changing of TRAC and VSC operation permission / disablement through VSC OFF switch
(1) Changing modes
Through the VSC OFF switch, the vehicle can be changed to normal mode, TRAC OFF mode and VSC OFF mode.
1. Normal mode
When the vehicle is in TRAC OFF mode or VSC OFF mode, and the VSC OFF switch is pressed for a short amount of time, the vehicle changes to normal mode. During normal mode, TRAC and VSC operation is possible. After the ignition switch is turned ON, the vehicle is in normal mode.
2. TRAC OFF mode
When the vehicle is in normal mode and the VSC OFF switch is pressed for a short amount of time, the vehicle changes to TRAC OFF mode. During TRAC OFF mode, the combination meter's slip indicator light illuminates, and TRAC operation is disabled. During TRAC OFF mode, if the vehicle speed increases, the vehicle automatically returns to normal mode.
3. VSC OFF mode
When the vehicle is stopped and the VSC OFF switch is pressed for 3 seconds or more, the vehicle changes to VSC OFF mode. During VSC OFF mode, the multiinformation display shows a VSC OFF display, and the combination meter's slip indicator light illuminates. Also, VSC and TRAC operation is disabled. During VSC OFF mode, even if the vehicle speed increases, the vehicle does not return to normal mode.
There you have it. Not a lot of choices there.

nice so its really a defeat switch to replace the pedal dance. I assume you have have to turn the car off to re-enable TRAC/VSC instead of just toggling the switch.

Sorry, forgot to include this note:
When the VSC OFF switch is pressed for 3 seconds or more with the vehicle stopped, the VSC system changes to VSC OFF mode. If the VSC OFF switch is pressed again with the system in VSC OFF mode, the TRAC and VSC systems can be operated. When the system is in VSC OFF mode, the SLIP indicator light and VSC OFF indicator light illuminate.
The same deal for the TRAC OFF mode. Hit the switch again briefly and TRAC is restored.

ohhhh nice, so at least this has been cleared up, now we just have to see if a retro-fit kit will ever get released I think it might be a fairly involved change...like a software flash upgrade plus the wire kit...doubt it will be plug-n-play easy

I dug into this more today for awhile. The '06 combination meter (dash instruments) is different. The '07 has another indicator for VSC off. It doesn't exist on the '06, so I seriously doubt there will be any retrofit capability. Unless you want to swap out the gauges and the skid control ECU. I'm fairly confident the lawyers will not permit a reflash without an indication the VSC is disabled. At least, that's what I expect. So, those of us with '06s are pretty likely to be out in the cold on this.

The 07 will also have a foglight on indicator to accompany the headlight on indicator in the cluster.
