ok, do you know what the whole system cost, parts an all, and who are you sponsored by? and what does your sponsorship consist of, like did you need to put a big sticker of the company on your car or what. because for two grand it looks pretty nice, mine ran be about 6500...

Nah.....I just show the cars for my sponsors. I'm not really into sound competitions, but I do set my cars up for SQ...not the earthshattering "loud as you can stand" setups.

I have no earthly clue how much the total bill would be. I have not bought audio equipment in years, so I'm the last person you want to ask about prices.....

Sorry....been working a lot with no free time.

All my project cars are basically heavily sponsored, including the audio. When I start a project, I scope out all the products I will need, and then approach the appropriate manufacturers. Since personally know most of the companies I need to approach, it's a matter of going over the project with them and the exposure I have planned. Obtaining sponsorships is not easy...you need a "portfolio" that shows what you've done in the past, and what you plan on doing in the future. Having several magazine cars in my past helps tremendously, but knowing the key people at the companies is even more important.

Oh, my projects are usually Acura, Lexus, and Infiniti, so no big stickers anywhere. Just discretely placed decals where needed….gotta keep it clean!

i'm going to get a setup similar to mrmark's. labor should be around $1200, parts around $1300. I'm getting 2 JL w3v3's (200 each), 2 JL 300/2 amps (330 each), plus a lc6i converter from audiocontrol (130), and a JL amp kit (90). so thats a whopping $2500 for a sound system... i'm gonna order everything soon, can't wait...

Heard over it, huh? It's very, very simple why I would want to keep the stock sub, all things being equal, 2 subs are better than one, especially when the stock sub mount is too small to replace with an aftermarket one. The stock sub doesn't sound bad, just not powerful enough for my liking, so I would like to add slightly more bass, but I'd prefer not to have a non-functional sub taking up space and adding weight. Additionally, by keeping the stock sub, I would only have to add a relatively small low-powered sub (i.e. to save space/weight) to achieve the results I want. Can anyone answer my question as to whether you can keep the stock sub when adding an aftermarket one?
