Default Front Plate

I know you can't do anything about it, but I'm so glad I live in a state that does not require a front licence plate!! I've been sitting here looking at a bunch of peoples pics and it just makes my skin crawl to see the ugly *** plate up front. It looks bad on all cars, but it just kills the IS IMHO! Just an observation and that I don't have to face that on my soon to be!

I have a friend from Georgia who has lived in Minnesota for over 10 years and still have GA plates because first he doesn't like that look of his car with a front plate and second the fees are lower. I tell him he's not very smart.

On the IS, I don't think it looks nearly as bad as on other vehicles. This car at least has a nice flat surface, that doesn't prevent air from getting to the radiator and such, while not interupting any of the lines on the car.

When you have a front fascia such as this though:

...then it becomes a problem.

There’s no question that most modern cars look better without the front plate, certainly the IS. But it is the law in many states, and for logical reasons, especially as a law enforcement enhancement.

And as mentioned in past threads, not installing your front plate increases the possibility of your being pulled over where you can get nailed not just for the missing plate, but for other things like no seat belt on, illegal mods, lost insurance papers, or having one beer too many earlier in the day. IMHO it’s just not worth it.

Yes I know, someone going to say that he’s been driving for 40 years without a front plate and has never been pulled over. But just remember, the captain of the Titanic sailed across the Atlantic for 40 years without hitting an iceberg……until that one time.

i don't drive with a front plate, just because there were no pre-drilled holes and it looked a lot better. i know it may increase the chances of getting pulled over (esp. with red) but i'm taking my chances. almost every other IS i see on the road has a front plate, but its not the plate i look at. i admit it does look like it shouldn't be there when you really look at it, but thats just the law for you...
