you need to put the headlights in an oven to melt the glue enough to be able to take off the clear plastic part in front

I need your guys opinion on something:
right now I have my stock halogens on and I want to get HIDs. The angel eyes are 6500k in color. Im not sure if i should get 6500k HIDs or 5000k. Should they match? I kind of want to get the 5000k so that the angel eyes will stand out a little more.

You literally place the headlight in an oven to loosen the parts of the headlight housing, undo them, and do whatever mod you want to do. You definitely have to know what you're doing or otherwise....

In your case, I would get 6000K HIDs. They will look good and will be very bright. Remember that the higher you go in K, the bluer/purplish the lights will look, but will not be as bright.

Perhaps you should send the pic to lexus corporate, and hope they make angel eye standard for the 2008 IS?

Yes this works too, be careful not to point the heat gun at one spot for too long. Go back and forth and keep the gun moving at all times or else you'll just melt the crap out of it. I've done it, probably takes as much time as the oven, just a bit more work cause you don't just leave it in the oven and let it sit for 20 minutes.

looks ok, if the second circle of the IS headlight was a full one it would look better, nice work tho

I'm not so sure a heat gun would work. when you get one part melted enough, the otherside would still be too cold to pull the headlight together. the heat needs to be distributed evenly. theres way too much glue on the lexus headlights. it's a lot better to do it in the oven. baking isnt that dangerous or risky... it just sounds bad.

It looks nice.

But I wouldnt even think of doing it mainly because bmw has had it for so long and its their thing.
