I can see the attraction to the IS. It's an incredibly attractive car, and you figure with the Lexus badge on the hood... how can you go wrong? But you soon realize that the car just isn't involving enough to drive, or provide enough feedback to the driver to be fun. You also find out as you get used to the car, that there are so many quirks with the handling, and the action of the manual transmission, that it's far from rewarding to take on joyrides. So you don't.

You know what I was feeling the same way I regreted buy this car but I traded in my only other one to get it. The IS has no real fun factor like the BMW's or any manual for that matter...I know that I could have got a stick in the 250 but it didn't have enough power. I have since put on an intake and exhaust and when I get out of Utah...They have crazy high angled entrances to parking lots and stuff, I am going to tackle the supension to give the car a better road feel. I now love the car even if it may be for the sound which I feel complimants the cars power now, even though I don't really think that there have been any performance gains. So what I am saying is maybe buy some stuff for the car and you might enjoy it a little more.

Purchasing cars on impulse makes little sense.
That said, I don't regret my purchase. It works great for everyday driving/commutes, and has enough refinement and power to make highway cruises very silent and enjoyable. It lacks in the corners, but then I didn't expect much from a car that's a few hundred lbs shy of 2 tons (with a driver and/or passenger) and such soft suspension.

My IS350 has been a wonderful car. I've had no problems with it since I purchased it last October. Sure, it has it's issues that are readily discussed on this site (VDIM, trac control, ect) but I purchased the car knowing of these features and still like the car because of these features. I also don't expect the car to be the fastest on the road and believe me it isn't.
When I drive this car I feel great, It's a Lexus after all. There's a certain amount of prestige in driving a Lexus. I could be driving far worse ( think Cobalt, Escort, you get the idea).BTW, my first car 25 years ago was a Pinto!
Have I modded my car? No and I don't plan to. I purchased the Luxury package because it is just that.... classy, smooth, queit, and comfortable. I'm not against modding it but why mess with a good thing? Sure a few more ponies would be nice but at the expense of noise? Lower the car to change the ride quality? never.
Lexus has been synonomous with Luxury, never Sports cars. They're just starting to get serious about a sportscar and the IS350 was the starting gate. I'll stick with my IS350 until possibly the IS500 comes out then who knows?
Just so everyone knows, I traded a 2003 Cobra that was modified to 500 hp for the Lexus. I don't regret it (except the power of course!). The Lexus is everything the Cobra isn't. If I could have kept both....
