That is simply not true. If the unibody is still true there is no reason why it can't be fixed to "like new" condition. With the pictures provided there is absolutly no way you can come to the conclusion that it will never be the same again. It actually does not look all that bad. As far as paint, if you take it to a competitant body shop, again, there is absolutly no reason why the paint won't be just as good as new.

If you had bad expierences you either wrecks were much worse, or the body shop didn't know what they were doing.

Oh boy! Those pictures are hard to look at! I've only had my car about 3 weeks... I'd probably have blown a gasket!

Glad to hear that you are OK, I've been in a wreck with the airbags deploying and that really sucks. I ended up with 3 broken ribs but they did save my life.

Hope everything turns out OK with the car.

Good Luck!

Have you talked to the insurance company about a "Diminished Value" claim? Since the wreck wasn't your fault, you are intitled to compensation for your "new car" being wrecked. It is probably worth $7K to you.

I've never heard of that, how does it work exactly? Does everyone have it?

It is part of Liability, just like "Pain and Suffering". Liability covers ANY financial loss that you cause someone else. One of those costs is the cost of diminished value after an accident. Your car will not be worth what it was even if repaired perfectly. You should ask YOUR insurance company about how to pursue it. A buddy of mine was involved in an accident in his Acura MDX, and he got something like 1/3 of the value of the vehicle after having the vehicle appraised by a DV specialist.

Here are some helpful links about DV claims in Florida (assuming that's where you had the accident). There are TONS of them by doing a Google search for "diminished value claim insurance florida"

http://www.appraisalgroupofamerica.com/
http://www.appraisalgroupofamerica.com/replacement.htm
http://www.collisionclaims.com/

Actually, the list is LONG. If these don't help, just repeat the Google search.

Good luck!

Honestly, I hope that Franky goes for Pain and Suffering too. I'm don't believe in ambulance chasing or anything, but if he actually experienced pain and suffering, he should be compensated for that too.

I went to the most reputable body shop in Tampa Fl, when i was hit and needed a new drivers side door they painted it and color matched it. the next week I took it to Lexus and they noticed it right away. i wanted to trade it for a new one with Nav and they offered me 4k less than what they agreed on prior to looking at it. I'm having the body shop redo it as I type the door sealer looks like s***. im driving a fucus rent a car they fired the painter they better get it right this time or they can have it.

I'm glad you're alright, sorry to hear about the car.

One thing, though... how exactly did your car get smashed up the way it did by someone being distracted and moving left? Unless she just merged and then stopped in front of you, you'd have to be going pretty damn fast to yield an accident like the one shown in the pics... like, twice as fast as she was.

I concur. I crashed a SAAB 900 Turbo 12 years ago. Airbags popped up, $18K in damages.
The frame was sound, they rebuilt it like new. Never had any trouble. Took that car way into the triple-digit speeds more than once, tracked straight as an "I". Traded it in for 55% of its original value when the car was 3 years old.

That's why DV claims exist.
