Actually, the 550i does 0-100km/h in 5.7 secs (auto). The GS450h does 0-60mph in 5.2 secs. I don't think the extra 4km/h to 100km/h will cost 0.4 sec.
The GS450h is 100kg heavier too and short of 20hp.
That said, if they have a hybrid IS500, then it could be a performer when the driver wants to and be a fuel sipper when the driver wants to. The money saved can go to new tyres or a racetrack membership.

Look, this is a rumor thread. The Lexus GS 450h is the 3.5 V-6 in the IS with 2 electric motors. So if anything it would be a IS 450h.
The IS 500 is going to be the new Lexus V-8 engine in the LS 600l h, which by itself is good for excess of 400hp.
There is no hybrid IS on the horizon. THe GS450h already has a truck barely at 7 cubic feet. Also, you would then have a 4000lbs IS (though the Audi RS4 does weigh damn near 4000lbs).
For those that think hybrids are ghey, test drive a RX 400h or GS 450h and prepare to have your *** SURPRISED!
The GS450h IS the fastest Lexus, not the IS 350. And passing power of the hybrids is incredible b/c of the instanteous power of the electric motors! NO WAITING!!
