Default 1st Oil change at 5K+

hello everyone, i have been very busy and when i called my Lexus dealership for 5k service, they're booked til next week. My car is currently has 4950 miles on it. So my question is will it matter much, engine wise, if i went a little over 5K before 1st oil change? I am planning to have synthetic oil, is there anything i should know before hand?

BTW, is there any club member locate in Wichita Kansas?

thanks,

Kuki

I thought rotate the tires will help them even out=long life for the tires, right?

Yep, I'm here in Wichita as well. My GS has a lot more miles, and because Scholfield is always about a week out for oil changes, I almost always have no choice but to let it go over. Sometimes, I am even 1000+ miles over the number on the sticker because of the week lead time... but my car as a few more miles on it than yours does at 161K.

I wouldn't worry too much about going a bunch over 5k. It IS a new car, but you should be fine down the road in my opinion.

On the IS350 the tires in the back are larger then the front...

Front has 18x8 wheels.. with 225/40RY18 tires
Rears are 18x8.5 wheels.. with 255/40YR18 tires

Not a huge diffrence... but I noticed I was rubbing when I was turning... then when I was cleaning my car... I noticed what they did... then I couldnt stop seeing a Forklift!!!! (big tires in the front and small in the back...)

There is nothing magic about 5,000 miles for the oil change. It's a good interval, but no one expects owners to roll into the dealership just as the odometer clicks over to 5,000.0. You could get it changed at 3,000 or 6,000 and it would make little or no difference.

In fact, many knowledgeable sources say we change oil too soon and too often, and today's dino oil should be good in most cars until 7,500 miles. Of course, specific conditions (high temperatures, hard driving, dusty roads, frequent starts and stops, etc.) call for more frequent changes.

Bottom line: Don't worry - be happy.
