A Track Day at Willow Springs

They usually run $125-$150 (at least where I live) per day. That's somewhat deceiving as you'll definitely use a lot of gas, and your wear items (brake pads, rotors, tires, etc.,) add up very quickly.
I figure each trip costs me at least $250-300 in just tires as I scrub off 2-3/32nds and can get around 4 track days / set of tires.
It's definitely worth it though and you may get hooked.

Nice pictures.
Those Celicas GTS and S2000 are taking corners completely flat out so I can bet they are faster in the corners. However, they simply do not have the raw brute power to keep up with the IS350 on the straights (I doubt even the S2000).

Were these actually racing slicks, or just R-compounds? Were you running OEM brake pads? How long were the lap sessions? I'm asking because I think this could prove that some of the super expensive brake upgrades being discussed are unnecesary.

Actually, they don't have the massive weight to tow around either, so I'd guess the S2000 is even faster in the straights. When you compare the RWHP numbers for the S2000 (2004+ model) and the IS350, they put down almost the same power. Yet the S2000 weighs, what, 700+ pounds less.

S2000 stock puts down 200 - 205 whp and I believe the IS350 is around 245 - 250 whp? So even with the 700 lbs less weight, the IS350 should still out run the S2000.

But get the S2000 on the track with a properly trained driver, and it will spank the IS350 up and down.

In an autocross its not about horsepower. An S2000 can surly win an IS350 on an autocross track. Its about the driver skill and the cars handling. Old people with 100k Porsches get smoked all the on these tracks with cheaper less espensive cars.

Yes I had said that before that the S2000 would be quicker in corners without a doubt. It was more about who would be quicker on the straights.
