That tape ain't coming off unless your REALLY REALLY want it to. Most lip spoilers are held on with just tape. I would rather lose a $200 spoiler than risk a $1200 (guessing) trunk lid to damage, rust, mis-drilled holes and so-on.

It's always good to know that I can install it with 3M tape. Worst case, if I really screw it up and the holes aren't aligned, I will use the tape. But I'm confident it will turn out perfect bolted on. Thanks for all the feedback.

I just drilled the holes "big enough". They were ugly when I was finished, but it turned out fine. I considered just taping it on, but felt like I would get a better alignment if I followed the installation instructions (pull the tape backing off after bolting it up and centering it).

Hey Gernby, I plan to use just the 8mm drill bit. It says 12mm on either end but the studs looks like they will fit in the 8mm holes. Should I go back and get the 12mm bits? They look pretty big. Also Home Depot didn't have a 12mm hole saw.

I don't even know what size bit I used. I just grabbed a bit that was bigger than the bolt. After drilling the holes, they weren't lined up well enough, so I had to elongate them. They all looked like bullet holes by the time I was done.

They probably recommend the 1/2" bit on the outside in case the holes don't line up; you will have some play.

Well, I just installed it and I'm happy I bolted it on. It took 45 minutes. It's perfect except I could not get the nut on the center stud on no matter what I did. I don't know if it is stripped or what. I'll try another day since it's getting dark. But both ends are secured. This baby ain't going nowhere. I won't bore you with pics. You've seen one, you've seen them all.

LOL. How did the fender look after? j/k

Btw, did you guys know that there is a template you can get from the dealer to drill the holes in the correct locations.
Here is what it looks like on the car prior to drilling.(any1 remember the blue tape)

Center punch all the markings on the template.

Drill

Line up the studs on the spoiler to the holes and bolt 'em up.

Done.

No need to fear drilling holes to do it right. No offense, but at work we have a name for people that install stuff half ***............................BUTCHER!!

Then it's all good. As long as you don't have to do a Paintless Dent Repair from the outside. LOL.

Come to think of it, I was always behind you. I don't think you'll have too much problem passing me since you have 100 more horses under your hood.
