Spoiler Installation Question
I did a search but couldn't find the answer. For those who installed the rear spoiler themselves, is it really necessary to use a 12mm hole saw? It looks that all 3 studs are the same size. Why drill a 12mm hole for the ends and 8mm in the middle?
Also, I don't have a flexible joint for my socket wrench. Did you guys really need this? I don't want to have to stop in the middle and run to the local hardware store and pick one up.

i did not use a 12mm hole saw. actually i didn't even have any drill bits that were measured in mm. i had to actually measure each bit to find the ones closest to 3mm and 8mm hahah. i also didn't use a flexible joint for my socket wrench... just an extension is good enough.

i heated up the spoiler a little bit w/ a soldering iron and just pulled the screws out along w/ the bases. it was pretty easy. after that i put 3m tape on where the screws were for more reinforcement

how well put on does it feel with just the tape on? i would like to have to spoiler but wouldn't like to drill. if you move the spoiler with your hands does it give in easily or what

I read the heavy duty 3M tape will not move at all even when yanking on the spoiler. I wouldn't yank too hard though. I have no experience using this and don't know how it will be a couple of years down the road. Unless someone convinces me the 3M tape is on there for good, I may just drill to be sure.

check out home depot... they even have industrial strength 3m tape. i decided to drill mine just to know that i did it correctly, although i wouldn't have a problem with just using 3m tape.

No, no problems at all. Thanks again for hooking me up. Maybe I can return the favor one day. By the way, did you drill, or used the 3M tape? I want to install it this week.

i don't get why you guys are so skeptical about 3m tape, this stuff isn't scotch tape. I think Ultimax knows this but my oem kit is held on by 3M tape (3M tape already on the kit plus i added some) hahah because i didn't want to drill anywhere~ Call me ghetto I don't care but its holding on strong after 6 car washes. As long as you put some rubbing alcohol ont he surface it will be perfect

^ yeah 3M take is incredibly strong. i used some to stick my hid ballast inside my fenders in my old car. when it was time to take em out 2 years later, i nearly ripped my fingers out trying to pry the ballast off from the fender. had to use a screwdriver and some wd-40 to get it off.
