Default Remote key??

I haven't even picked up my new IS 350 yet and I already have question. I swim in the ocean three times a week. I don't dare get the "key" wet. How can I lock my car? The little tab at the rear of the door handle looks like it is for emergeny use only. I cannot see using it many times a week. Ideas?

Aloha,
Larry

That could be a very expensive test.

I have a 06 GS300 with the remote key. I accidently left the key in my pocket and washed it. It worked perfectly the next day. I just let it sit out and get completely dry and it still works fine.

what if you leave the fob in the trunk but take the metal key part with you? then just open the trunk and get the fob to open up the car.

With it in the trunk couldn't anyone open the doors? I don't know because I do not have the car yet.

If you leave the fob in the trunk, with the doors locked, the car will beep. And then you can open the trunk by simply pushing the trunk button next to the license plate. A lockout feature.

If the doors are unlocked, and you close the trunk with the keys in it, it wont beep, and it wont let you open it with the exterior button. But thats because it figures you're doors are unlocked anyways, so you can just go and push the trunk release inside.

So either way, you cant leave the fob in the trunk... somehow or another you can get it.

i have to check there might be a sneaky way to lock the key in the trunk but ordinarily that will not work.

Thanks Ken, I hope you figure something out. I hate to have to trade in the car before I ever get it!
