I think the shark fin looks a lot better than the sirius/xm black box sitting on top of your trunk. That just looks tacky. Especially when you have a high price car.

I agree. The black box looks so cheap on a lux car. I would hate to have to put that "pill box" on my trunk. I think the fin looks ok. I certainly does not look like a tacky add on.

Who came up with the name "shark fin"? Personally I think it looks more like a dolphin fin.

Why not just call it a dorsal fin?

And for those of you with "fin envy", you may remember when cell phones were new, you could purchase a fake plastic antenna to attach to your car. Evidently, somebody thought attaching an antenna gave a look of importance. Perhaps you can do the same with the dorsal fin.

well personally I'm happy I have a 06 and no fin... maybe it's just the angle of the pic or something but I think it looks terrible I don't know what it is about the fin I just don't like it. I think they look stupid on BMW and Audi's and now our cars get them... sigh ...hope its just for xm radio and not standard.

I was at Kuni Portland yesterday for an oil change, and they already had several '07 models. The dorsal fin looks better in person. For some reason it looks really tall in that picture, but in person it's much more sleek. I asked the service rep and he thought that it could be installed on an '06 but he didn't have the details.

but maybe it's because i've gotten used to all the '06s without it. i never really liked the fin to begin with on the bmws and audis which is why i ended up with the IS. but the fact that they are adding it on standard is what sucks. oh well, glad i got an 06!

Those are the standard wheels for an AWD IS250 regardless of the year. Anyways, I hate it too, so someone with a 350 want to sell me theirs?

I'm keeping my 2006 IS 350 forever. It will be a valuable collector's item in 20 years. The only year 2nd gen IS made without a dorsal fin.

for those that don't like the dorsel fin, it just takes some time to get used to. like with all things, at first you may not like it, but eventually you will. at first i didn't like it seeing it on all the bmw's, but now i think its pretty cool. if you really don't like it, just be happy you have a '06

i am, and i probably will get used to seeing the shark fins, but just out of curiosity, this means the IS500 will have the fin?
