My friend said i could return the car if i wanted to upgrade for a new one. He said if its within 30 days of buying the car. Is this true?

on a new car, absolutely not.

unless it is specially written in a signed and agreed upon contract, it does not matter if you were told this or you were promised or even if you believe it and maybe someone else has done it before and they told you about it.

it simply isn't true unless you can read those words with your own eyes on a contract which i doubt you'll ever see and if you do in the rare cases that it has been known to happen (I think Saturn might have done this), there is some sort of fee or penalty.

so the other answer is yes you can trade-in your car the very next day and buy any other car on the lot within hours of buying the first one but it will probably cost you dearly.

your friend is mis-informed.

You could return your car for a new one but you won't get what you paid for the first one.

No, for California, in the sales contract you have to sign in a paragraph that states there is No Cooling Off Period.

There is a new California law, but it's not thirty days, and there are conditions.

There is no provision for Buyer's Remorse.

Chrysler has (or had) a program, but there there is a 5% restocking fee in the fine print.

Wow, those are pretty radical changes. It's gonna change dramatically how used cars are bought and sold in CA. Was it that bad they had to implement such major changes? Can't sell your trade-in car for 2 days....
