Thinking of taping my front license plate instead of drilling holes.

I purchase my IS350 in Quebec where there is no front license requirement. But I live in Ontario which is one of the last provinces to require a front mounted license plate. I had my car for three months now and so far no police encounters.
I just can’t get myself to install that unsightly plastic bracket that holds the license plate and drill it into my bumper. So I just had an idea, why not use double-sided tape in the back of the license plate and stick it to the bumper. The middle of the bumper seems flat enough. I would use 3M tape that I once used for my last car windows wind deflectors (strong stuff I must say).
Of course all this was before I used this forum’s search feature. I have read some of you had the same idea. Any problems encountered with bumper curve, longevity of tape, etc.

I used the 3m tape to do that on my last car. Would have done the same if they hadn't already drilled into my bumper.
No issues with longevity. Just layer the tape on the sides of the plate so that it compensates for the curve of the bumper.

The only problem is, if you have to take the plate off, it will take the paint off also. You may what to keep a bottle of this handy.

Thanks for pointing out other options guy's. But more I think about it, the better I prefer placing it flush on the bumper. Not as much as not having one tho...
