How much to fix at the dealership?
Hey everyone...i was trying to back in my car into the drive way...and for some reason i didn't notice my other car and backed right into the towing hitch...now there's a dent in the rear bumper. Does anyone know how much it is going to cost to fix it? Will I have to order a new bumper or will they just pound it out, sand it, and re-paint it?
HELP PLEASE. I have a wedding to go to in 2 weeks and want my car to be perfect!

funny you should ask. Somebody just rear ended me on Saturday and dented my bumper. I've gotten 1 estimate to replace the bumper with an OEM one and repaint for about $800. This isn't even the shop I'm going to, the one I want to go to specializes in Lexus and will probably charge more.

bumper plastic has been punched in doesnt look like a dent, even if you align it back and paint over it, paint will probably crack open again if it expands in any heat. Youre going to have a mark if you dont replace it, if you want it perfect its going to have to be replaced

Since the front and rear bumpers are polyurethane, I would think that there are a wide assortment of flexible polyurethane bonding agents that could repair that puncture. The foam underneath shouldn't be terribly damaged judging from that picture.

I made a claim on the other party's (the one that hit me) insurance. I'm taking it a highly recommended body shop, however I've heard that the paint will always be different. Now, I know that even the factory paint on bumpers doesn't match, I notice this on some cars, however on mine it's pretty close.
I want it replaced, however I'm just worried as to the color match.

That bumper looks punctured to me. Hopefully that's the only thing that got damaged. A guy I work with had someone back up into his car at a gas station one time. The driver of the other car (truck actually) gave him $200 for the little scratch. Well, after a few days he noticed that one of the headlights was kinda misaligned, so he brought the car into a body shop and it turns out that he did a lot more damage than he though and had a $1000.00 bill.

I brought my car to a lexus referred body shop called Kuni's Collision Center...they told me the bumper will have to be replaced....and its not cheap either...gonna make my waller $846 lighter.... oh well...i have learned my lesson...thanks for everyone's input on this. I think they will make my bumper perfect again just like when I first bought it. I believe Kuni owns the lexus dealership where I got my car at...everything is gonna be OEM...they told me they will have to keep the car for 4 days to re-paint the bumper and make sure the color matches my car...and I really don't mind.
