Default Just order the Drop-in K&N Filter

Like the subject says, I just ordered the drop-in filter from K&N directly. Anyone have any thoughts, comments, and current experiences with the filter for the 2IS? Thanks.

I think it is a far better decision than all those dumb "cold air intakes". Those are all a waste of money and seldom give any more power, especially without aftermarket software to change your mapping. However I would leave well enough alone and just keep the stock filter. Hell if you wanted a sports car, would you have bought a lexus or BMW M or Audi S. So my point is don't try to make the car something it isnt, a sports car.

i have one and i like it, no noticable power obviously but it does make it sound alittle more throaty........

it cant hurt, have you looked at the stock air filter, looks as dense as roll of toilet paper

Hello Kilo, you mention that there is no noticable pwr? What about in the acceleration department, any improvements in that or during mid-high range? It would suck with very little to no HP gains. Thank you in advance.

When it comes time to change the air filter in my IS, I would probably buy a drop in K&N filter as well. Not that I'm trying to make my car a sports car, but from a financial standpoint, it's just cheaper to spend more upfront and know that you'll never have to buy another air filter ever again. I have a "filter on a stick" on my GS-R and like you said, didn't really notice any difference in power, but my purchase of it was mainly for asthetics.

Actually the stock filter flows quite well. I did a dyno comparison between a brand new OEM filter and the Blitz filter and the power output was identical on several back to back swaps. So I'd say swapping out to an aftermarket filter is a safe investment, esp the K&N filter because you can keep it for the life of the car. Just make sure you don't over oil it.

And with regards to the current CAI's available they remove the stock air box, which has a secondary carbon filter that is used for emmissions. Basically it gets the carbon out of the air to make the emissions lower. Being semi-environmentally conscious I'm planning to keep that in the car as it hasn't been proven to be a restriction.

K&N reported a 11.27 hp gain with thier Typhoon intake (CAI) system. I'm hoping that will be noticeable, but paired with an exhaust system, there should definately be a noticable difference. ...not like we're trying to imitate a sports sedan or anything though.
