I HATE that the car does this. I like opening the door before i shut the car off. And that beep is so loud and annoying, ugh. But yes, you can stop it by pressing the button in the door jam. But c'mon, we shoudln't have to do this.

I'm thinking it is like lobuxracer said. I think it is a bug. I can understand that the car would chime if the door is opened before turning the car off, but it should stop chiming as soon as the car is turned off (like it does for the lights). I'm going to do more testing with it to see what conditions actually cause it. I wonder if it would chime at all if the headlight switch was in the OFF position.

Well, I just tried several scenarios, and it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the headlight switch at all. I didn't get the same response from turning the switch from auto to off and back while the chime was chiming. It just kept on chiming until I finally pushed the door switch pin.

I also noticed that the steering wheel lock seems to be activated by the door switch pin. If the car is turned off before opening the door, the steering wheel lock engages as soon as the door is opened (and there is no chime). If you open the door before turning the car off, the steering wheel lock will not engage until the door is closed (and it will chime the whole time).

I'm kinda thinking that a small relay and capacitor connected to ACC and the door switch pin might do the same thing as hitting the door switch pin for a split second...

^ if you do that mod, keep us updated on it. I would love to kill this beep. It's my only real annoyance with the car, lol
