Would the car shut off if there is no FOB
I started my car in my garage and went back into the house and put the fob on the counter and headed back to the car and shift it out of Park... the display showed SHIFT BACK TO P or something like that and the RED warning logo was flashing... but when i went into reverse the RPM seemed to drop and you can hear the engine getting quiter like its just gonna shut down.. so out of fear that i might mess something up put it back into Park and grabbed the fob from the counter and shut her off
i'm just curious on what would happen if someone did try to steal your car while it was on and the fob was out of range.....What if....

if the car is started then even if the keyfob is not near the car, you can still drive it away. the car WILL NOT shut off or do any of the things that carenthus just said. hope this helps.

This has happened to me a couple times before. A couple times when I was driving my g/f to work in the morning, she sould stat the car to warm it off and then forget to take it out of her pocket as I dropper her off. The car acts normally, you will just get a warninging light that says "key not detected" You can drive the car normally and turn it off but once the car is off, you cannot turn it back on.

This brings up a good point. I remember reading somewhere that the car will still start even if there is no battery in the key fob. You will need to place the key fob in close range to the start button in order for the car to start.

Correct, you need to push the brake and hold the dead fob on the start button until the green light turns on, then you can press the start button and your good to go.

there are only three reason why any car including our 2is should stop the engine running:
1) you turn off the engine on purpose
2) the engine runs out of gasoline or stalls.
3) mechanical or electrical failure or some other defect.
no other tricks or hacks or unusual methods are necessary or desireable by the owner or the car manufacturer.
