Do this:

- start the car; leave windows open
- run heat on full heat, full fan for 10 minutes (to dry the system)
- lower temperature, leave fan on high
- with fan running, spray Lysol for 10 seconds in intake vents outside the car
- let it run for 5 more minutes to get rid of the smell

I just had all filters changed at my 15k, and still getting a strange chemical type smell when turning on my AC, anyone else notice this? Again, NOT a mildew smell, but a chemical/chlorine type smell. Anyone else?

Yeah, I get the same smell, but as other people informed when you start the car just put it on external and let the fans run, then after about a minute or 2 put it back on internal. It works for me.

aight guys, this A/C smell doesn't for me mean it smells when i used the A/C.

Whenever i floored the car, this rootten egg smell comes about and i think the smell would have been smelt from the outside as well.

Any takers on this?

Maybe your catalytic converters have gone bad (defect).

What kind of Gas are you using? That will make a difference, low grade tends to cause that sulfur smell. Never happened in my IS, but in my fathers old RX330 it happened plenty.

they said they had a fix, but will take a full day to do it,
i didn't want them to take apart the new car,
so i'm just living with it, lol..

it's too hot but no humidity in here and the A/C doesn't smell,so i'm sure this isn't normal.
maybe the Cabin filter has caught something stinky?

I always have it on fresh 95% of the time, and before arriving to my destination I turn off the AC, turn the fan up to help dry it out before turning it off.

I have an alternative solution...spray Lysol in the outside vents (the ones between the windshield and the wiper blade) and turn on the AC, let it run...a couple of treatments and works good...also works with through the window AC at home.

Ok tried a new 'brand' of gas, and the smell is still there.

First i thought the smell was just air from the tank as i often not have full tank. But the tank is now full and smell is still there.
