Default 2G IS250 9006 HID Foglamps Fog question

Hello All,

I have a 2007 Lexus IS250 and I plan to install HID's into the foglamps.

Question 1: How well does the 9006 foglamp enclosure take the excessive heat emitted from the HID's? Any fogging from the heat? Any chrome peeling?

Question 2: How do you have access to the foglamp? Peel off the black plastic from the bottom side? I want to have the easiest access to install this kit.

I plan to install OEM Matsu****a Ballast w/ 9006 D2S Bulbs.

Thank you for your help!

Answer 1: I haven't had a problem with my fog lamp housing whatsoever. No fogging, peeling or anything along those lines.

Answer 2: Since the HID kit I installed did not require me to connect cables to the battery or install ignitors (ballast and ignitors are integrated in one "box"), I used TAMR_GUS'S DIY for foglights to install my HID's. I did both sides in about 30 minutes.

i don't think hid produces the kind of heat halogen does. try putting your hand in front of a halogen headlamp... you can totally feel the heat on your hands. now do the same on an hid headlamp... probably feel little to nothing at all.

you access the foglamps from the fender well area. just peel the fender liner back. there's also an access panel you can remove underneath the driver's side fog lamp to access that area. only trouble i had with my hid fogs was finding a suitable location to mount the ballast on the driver's side.

I done my one with the 9006 HID convertion kit... the shop that installed my kit that the bumper off to install the kit they did it in an hour... I was standing next to them... Easy just find a place that closer to the engine side to avoid minimum water drops to in stall the ballasts...

I don't you could install the D2S on the fog since it is 9006...??
I installed my for a month and there were a bit fogging in the foglight no chrome peering yet... I hope not...

i ended up velcroing it to the metal bumper support beam. thinking of finding another place to put it because it's vulnerable to water in that location. i also had to extend the wires to the bulbs because it wasn't long enough to reach.

Thank you all for your prompt replies.

I plan to install the Nissan/Infiniti Matsu****a Ballast because it is very similar to the Matsu****a Ballast in JDM HID FOglamp option.

The bulbs I will be using is rebase 9006 D2S 4200K Bulbs. I want the closest match to the OEM D4S 4800K Bulb and that seem to do it.
