Absolutely not. A trip to the body shop (or even worse, funeral expenses) are much more costly than a pair of front tires. The front wheels do all of the steering and much of the stopping. Summer tires have no place on snow covered roads. Buy four winter tires or leave the car parked when there is snow and ice on the roadway surface.

I would buy just two if I had a garage where I could easily change the rears out... But, if you are going to be driving on the winter tires for a few months, best to get all 4 so there is even tire wear on your front summer tires..

But ya, having two snow tires on the drive (rear) wheels is 100X better than nothing at all. So get whatever you can afford. I recommend all 4 wheels, but if budget doesn't have it, just get the rears.

My thought is you bought an IS350 but don't want to spend the extra ~$300-400 to get a full set of winter tires? Thats kind of strange to me but whatever.

Those Nokians are good, Blizzak, Dunlop Wintersport M3's are all quality winter tires.

Swapping out rims isn't necessary but you can if you want. Keep in mind you'll probably want to buy another TPMS set for your 2nd rims. When I lived in Canada we never changed rims on our cars for summer/winter and they still looked good. If you're going to the expense and hastle of getting 2nd rims, just get all 4 snow tires.

I agree entirely with this statement. Your front tires do do the steering, and in an accident avoidance situation you want to be able to steer as well as possible. Also, your front wheels do most of the braking (that's why your front rotors are bigger than the rears on most cars, but of course you already know this). Good tread on your tires is what helps you stop in wet and snowy conditions. Stability control won't help you if the tires can't grip the surface.

I'd buy 4 or keep the car parked in the winter as well.

My michelins arent loud, they are about the same as OEM Dunlops during summer, I was surprised tho. Everyone says winter tires are loud. These arent.

Anyone know where to get TPS sensors other than the dealer? or how much we can expect to pay for TPS sensors through the dealer?

The Dunflop M3s got the best reviews/ratings on the TireRack.

Do a search, there is a current thread on this. It's around $100 for the sensors from the dealer.

Will they fit the ISP Mode Wheels? According to Tire Rack they are not listed as available.

You may catch a deal from the dealership from time to time. Last year before the winter came, I got 4 sensors for Cdn$300, excluding wheel fitting kits and valve caps from a local Lexus dealership.

The fitting kit is a must in order to fit the sensor on the wheel.

The valve caps are to match the valve stems of the sensors.
