Apparently the best winter tires out there are Gislaved SoftFrost 2, Nokian Hakkapeliitta Rsi and Michelin X-Ice.

The Nokian RSI are offered in 225/40R18 or 245/40R18.

But you are right about the other two. Never notice before how rare 18" snow grip are.
