Default '07 G35 6MT v 07 IS350

I read the new Car & Driver, and was impressed by the review of the new Infiniti G35 sedan (6MT). 306 hp -- sound familiar? -- very close times for 0-60 and 1/4 mile, and $10k cheaper than what a lot of us paid. The interior isn't as nice, but for anyone considering a 330/5 v. IS350, I would recommend a test drive of the Infiniti before they make a choice. The manual tranny is enticing, and apparently the steering is great.

I drove one a couple of years back, and the IS350 feels much more "nailed down" and quiet to me. However, if my budget had been smaller, this car would have been the winner.

Just FYI, and food for thought/discussion. This is not a thread to bash on the IS350. I don't regret my choice, but that doesn't keep me from being impressed with the competition.

the new g35 sedan base model shouldn't be more than $3k cheaper than the base model is350. you pay for what you get in this case. if lexus went cheap on the interior, i'm sure you could knock off a few thou too. i'm glad they didn't. as of now, lexus is the only true japanese luxury nameplate.

I think Infiniti will do well with the new G35, just as how they did a few years back.

People will know what makes each car beneficial for them. A lot of drivers out there will prefer the luxury, and a lot of drivers will prefer the performance.

People prefer Lexus for the luxury. I think that if Infiniti focuses on the drivers that prefer performance, it will take away from BMW sales, not Lexus...

IMHO the G35 does not get the looks like the IS. It may be better than last yr but not good enough. Plus Lexus/Toyota has a rich racing history that is, you know it, infused in your DD.

I've had 2 g35's. I won't get another unless the MSRP was $25K. Not worth all of the issues and lack of service after the sale for anything less than that.

I'm not the only one as customer loyalty for Infiniti as a whole is not impressive.

these are the exact cars i'm looking at for later this year. I feel the is350 looks better and has a much better interior but (predict) the g35 will out peform and give more road response.

I optioned one out on Infiniti's website, and the 6MT with the premium package and Nav came to $36,800. You're right - not $10k - but around $7k when comparing MSRP. I believe you'd probably get the Infiniti out the door for a larger discount than the Lexus, but I don't know that for a fact.

Most of us don't drive bare bones IS350s. This compares an IS350 w/Lux and Nav to a G35 6MT that has everything but the "aero package" and Sirius/XM.

Again, I'm not bashing my IS350, but I can't deny that the updated G35 is a fast car with a manual tranny at a great price. Car and Driver placed them very close to the 3 series in the test, with a better gearbox. I see a lot of Bimmer worship on this forum (even though I can't stand them), so this should be relevant to some of you.

I didn't think the 2007 G35 was up on the Infiniti site yet... Did you price out the 2006 version?

g35 is a very nice sports car and you can make it faster than a is350 with aftermarket superchargers and other things but the interior isnt as luxurious as the is350. sure the interior on the is350 is nothing like a mercedes s550 but the point of the is350 is to be a spory luxurious car that can perform very well. i own a is350 so im biased =] but still i was debating between a g35 and is350 and im very happy to pick the is350. and its faster by a few 1/10 of a second :-p
