Default Navigation says the destination 200 to 300 fts before the target.

my navigation says the destination (not sure exactly what it says, but something like you have reached your destination, guidaince will now suspend) 200 to 300 fts before the target. Is this happening to anyone?

Yeah, it happens to me too, I think it's just to let you know it's right there so you don't pass it...

That is correct. If you go thru the interactive nav tutorial it says that it lets you know so that you will not miss it and this is "normal".

i think there's an acceptable degree of fluctuation with the information also. if you put it in "address view" (with compass no map and it tells you the street address you're at while you're driving), its off by a couple hundred feet.

that's correct, that's how it gives you time to stop the car. if it says "you have arrived at your destination, your guidance is now complete" right when you arrive at the spot, what should you do? panic brake?

Depending on how well/many satellites are acquired by the system the accuracy will vary. If you look up in the top left corner by the north arrow it will tell how accurate the system is working. If you loose the signal you will just get an arrow. On most of the handheld units they use what is called a WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System) system that uses a network of towers that receive GPS signals and transmit a corrected signal by beacon transmitters I've seen less then 9 foot accuracy readings. I don't think the car nav systems use WAAS.

And our car doesn't need that kind of accuracy either. Even if we could get down to 9 feet, the voice will still warn you well ahead of time that you have reached your destination.

And that's not exactly how waas works: http://www.garmin.com/aboutGPS/waas.html
