Default Dunlop tire wear @ 15k miles (pics)

After reading several threads about tire wear, Dunlop vs Bridgestone, etc etc I decided to take a couple snapshots of my dunlops. This is after 14,719 miles. Appoligies for one of the blurry pics.

So there are the front tires on 18's, Dunlop, IS350, just shy of 15k miles with mildly aggressive driving. Definatly looks like they'll reach 20k without issue.

Oh, and I know it looks like the outside of the tire is wearing more than the inside, but that is just the lighting.

Ramon - So would you say that the tire wear is even all the way around?

No, not completely even. The outside is a bit more worn than the inside but it is not nearly as dramatic of a difference as it appears in the pictures.

The better question is, would you get the Dunlops again, or try out another set like the PS2 or RE050 ???

how often should the tires be changed on our cars? I've never had low profile tires or anything... so I'm not really sure.

I believe the dunlops are rated for 15,000 miles. You may see less you may see more, depends on your driving habits.

I've been happy with the Dunlops and wouldn't mind getting them again but I think I'm probably going to try the Michelin's next. I don't have any interest in the Bridgestone's.

Are they noisy yet? All have you noticed any difference since new? Were they quiet when new?

Actually, I believe the Dunlops have a treadwear rating of 240, and the rule of thumb would say they should go 24,000 with "normal" use.

The Bridgestone Potenza RE050's have a treadwear rating of 140, so I'll be surprised if they last more than 12-15,000 miles.

For me, I'll be trying out the Goodyear Eagle GS-D3, a tire that I loved on my Audi S4. Probably be a while before I need new tires - since I use winter tires during the winter, the Dunlops are only on for 8 months of the year.

whenever its time for me to replace them, I'll definitely try and look for a quieter set... if the road isnt new or smooth, you can hear it and sometimes it gets too loud. anyone else notice this?

A decent tire for minimal road noise is the Falken Azenis. I currently have them on my Type-S and they handle adequately in wet and dry and are VERY quiet compared to other summer-only tires...

I do not know if the car is louder now than it was when new to be honest. They Dunlops definatly do have a bit of road noise however and on certain pavements it can be excessive.

i sure hope these tires will work on the is500. i have three sets of them because i anticipated short tire life. i need to see the is350 by mid-2008 and i only run 12-15k a year.
