Testing an '06 / '07 ECU swap would probably be a total BIACH due to the immobilizer.

How do you mean? The immobiliser technology doesn't directly touch the VSC ECU. It talks to the engine ECM, but not VDIM/VSC from what I've read about it. It's true there is a whole separate security system based on certificates and challenge/response technology, but it doesn't validate each and every component on the CAN bus. The immobiliser shouldn't be affected at all by changing the VSC ECU.

OK, now you've made me curious - I'll have to research this...

There is nothing special about replacing the skid control ECU. Remove, replace, reset codes with a simple technique and a shorting wire (no OBDII reader required, just the same old brake pedal code clearing technique they've been using since '93).

I see your point. I didn't realize that the VDIM ECU was separate from the engine ECU.

OK guys, this is a really dumb question, but has anyone held the '06 ETC/TRAC button in for more than 3 seconds to see what happens?

What could happen? Holding it for 3 seconds 100% disables all traction (VSIC). What else could happen?

This is good news. In my vette you could do the same. It was loads of fun untill you hit a corner at 90-100 and it would scare the dookie out of you.

Nothing, I already tied it. The only criticism on past reviews of IS 350 was the inability to turn off "electronic police".

I agree, perhaps if enough of us ask for it, they may consider it? Can't hurt!
