From exploring around in the forums I found a convincing thread about the possibility of the future 2008 IS300. Anyways, my main concern is I ordered the 6 speed manaul transmission 2007 Lexus IS250 and am currently waiting for it to arrive. Though when I found the thread about the IS300.. I have become a little discouraged due to if the value of the IS250 will decrease in 2008 due to the IS300 HYPOTHETICALLY coming out. If such a thing was true... I figure it would be economically smarter to purchase the IS350 for a variety of reasons.. it is the highest ranked model of the vehicle, etc... I just wanted some input on how I should go about this.. It would be truly appreciated. Thank you.

Rumors won't affect the value of the automobile, except maybe perceived value on forums such as this.
I would say right now, it would be economically smarter to purchase the 350 before any confirmation on the 300 because you're getting 100 extra horsepower for the "small" price increase, whereas you won't gain as much HP is the 300 comes out and makes in the 240-250 range.
But the 250 is selling like crazy, even if a 300 would come out, your car would still have some good value.
All of this is IMHO.

2008 IS300 was a rumor started by IS250 owner(s) that want more power.
In the U.S, the 3.0L engine that was found on early 1990's ES, GS, and SCs is pretty much obsolete.
If you do see a new 3.0L engine, which Lexus has never announced or mentioned or even discussed, look to it having significantly more power and more gas efficient than the old 3.0L engine. But then again, if they made it (which should be about 260 hp), it will immediately make the IS/GS 350 less different than it. Why would Lexus provide two engine options that are only 40hp apart?
Might as well make the IS250 with a hybrid option...
