Default Smoked my tails

finally had time to smoke my tails. i used the jdm smoke tint spray..and put on 3 coats.

finished product...they turned out really well..and it feels great to have done them myself this is up at my weekend house...so lexafer is FILTHY i'll post some more pics after i wash her this week

looks nice.. you might want to put 2 coats of clear on it so it doesn't look flat

i may wind up doing that..i'm not sure why it looks so flat, it's supposed to dry to a glossy finish

lol, yeah that is a whole lot of painters tape and newspaper

i agree with silversx...a cpl clear coats on top of it would make it a whole lot better. nice job tho!

oh, what happened to the aero tect smoked tails? didn't like 'em?

Yeah it would be great if it was glossy but it looks mean. Nice job.

yea i think i'm going to buy a can of glossy clear and try to do it before next weekend i had a shop put the aerotect overlays on for me and they did a crappy job...aerotect replaced the overlays for me and i tried to put them on myself..started with the inner tail light and just couldnt get it to stretch enough...so i decided to just spray them...im happy with the way they turned out and once the glossy clear coat goes on i'll be set

the jdm smoke spray is removeable with paint thinner..or i could use brake fluid to take it off...i have 3 years before it goes back to lexus tho

don't use acetone.. it will take off the clear coat.... unless you want to spray clear coat after

You'll never get the smoke off without fogging the lens. If I were to smoke the lens, I'd just buy new ones, and smoke the inside. Then you don't have to worry about scratches or removing the paint when your lease is up.
