...and we all understand that some cars out there have design cues that will always be compared to one another.
What can we say? The roofline of the IS is similar to the tC, the taillights are similar to a Hyundai Sonata, and the wheels look like those of the XK.

Yes, it does resemble a tc. That was one of the first gripes people had about the styling when the pictures of the 2nd gen IS first hit the net. Both cars are from Toyota so they'll inevitably share some styling cues. I for one think that Toyota needs to further separate the design depts. or cut them off from contact entirely. The other gripe I have is that the bodykit for the 2nd gen IS looks similar to the bodykit for the Yaris.

Yeah, until you step on the gas. Then the difference is ridiculously obvious, and there is no comparison.

don't sweat it lots of people can't tell one car from another. my wife for example says everything looks like either a civic or accord. the only things that don't are cars that are obviously different like porsches, mini's and vw bugs. Everything else is an accord to her. lol

Maybe she was deliberating trying to insult you??? Who cares though, I tend to think the Scion looks like the IS, but not the other way around LOL ![Big Grin](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
IMO, there is a resemblance but the IS has so many more styling cues and complex shapes.

I wouldn't be surprised. Maybe she thought because it was silver, that it looked the same. Think of it this way, you're driving a very sporty and young-looking car according to that person.

its the high arching b pillars...and semi bulbous shape that cue you into thinking it's an IS. Other than that the hoodline of the IS bulges outwards (soo sexxy) it just screams, "Yes I do have 300+ horsepower." Where as the scion's front end screams, "Yeah I can get you from point a to point b... with 38mpg to spare!" Bottom line, the overall shapes are somewhat similar.

IMO The Lexus has a more meaty looking body compared to the Scion. I have seen them both right next to each other, and the Lexus has a considerable smoother looking body compared to the Scion. I would never mistake one for the other. It is quite obvious which is which.
