Tires won't break loose from a stop
Tried WOT from standstill today, and the tires didn't so much as chirp. Tried it again with traction control off, and the results were the same. Either the Dunlop tires are exceptionally grippy at 1,400 miles, or torque at low RPM isn't too great.
I'm guessing that those of you running 1/4 miles at the track are bringing engine revs up to about 2,500 for a good launch. Let me know if I'm wrong.
BTW, car is a 2006 IS350.

Yeah, about 2000 rpm for launch with a sticky surface (lots of VHT from the night before) and no burn out at all and VSC turned off via the pedal dance. I only spun on one launch when I didn't quite roll into it right. My 2.276 60' told it all.

Haha... It's happened to me at least three times. However, I've been rather abusive on my Dunlops so I'm sure that has at least something to do with it. The last time it happened to me I had about 9,000 miles on the tires. I just floored it from absolute stand-still and my rears were begging for mercy... Of course, it depends on the surface you're dealing with, how much wear you have on your tires, if you have VSC/TRAC on, and also your driving habits. If you're an aggressive driver (i.e. you mash the gas pedal all the time) the ECM will adjust the throttle response to your style of driving. When I took delivery of my car, the techs at the Sewell dealership (after I shooed them away from drooling over my car... ) told me not to use the cruise control until I had at least 1,400 miles because the VDIM is learning your driving style during that period.

It should be easy. Do the pedal dance, floor the throttle with the brakes fully engaged. You should have enough power to overcome the rear brakes.

can you do it w/o stepping on the brake, i hate that, i think its hard on the car...

Wait, how would you get the revs up in an automatic before launch?
EDIT: Wait again... that seems like it might be a stupid question. Do you just rev it in neutral, and then when it reaches the RPM you want, you drop it into drive? Because you don't have to touch the brakes to switch from neutral to drive, right?
... Is that what you do?

On a typical dry warm day my tires won't break loose either. When I'm at the drag strip I launch with no power braking. In the future, I just may try to bring the revs up a bit while holding down the brake and see if I can get under a 2.0 60' time without the tires going up in smoke.

Brake torqueing. Stand on the brakes and give it gas. You won't move but the revs will go up. Doing it for less than a second probably won't do any damage but you definitely don't want to do this for any longer than that.
That's commonly referred to as the 'neutral slam.' This is the last thing you want to do and you could be out of pocket for a new tranny.

i tires break loose real easy... if i tried to launch.. and raise my rpm around 3... it'll start burning out.. and smoking... seems like 2.5 or 2.0 is the best rate to launch at.
