Even without my calculator, this seemed a bit high to me. So I asked why am I being charged $140 for the service when an oil change and tire rotation is $107. The service writer pauses, stammers a bit and then says well they do other things--like what--well they check the air in your tires and top off your fluids, and check your brake pads.

Okay, in that case, then skip the 10k service and just change the oil and rotate the tires. I think my brake pads are okay at 10k miles and I just checked the air in my tires. So he crosses of the $140 and writes in the $107--still too much but less egregious.

I'm curious to hear what others have paid for their 10k service?
at 15k I changed oil and rotated tires (got a free 10k service at a different dealer because of a prior incident and they didnt rotate, so i did it at 15k). cost me $112, taxes and all. Oil change alone at 20k was about $78 all in.

Granted, I have purchased two cars from them, one new, one CPO, and one had over 150K on it before I traded it in, and it had all the service done there. It was a 2002 GS4 and I did call Toyota for several various services, like the 90K and 120K, but they said they just flat didnt have the parts for that car. They did for the ES, and some of the GS300 parts, but not the IS, any SUV, or the GS4.
i halve always gotten free tire rotations only after i bought new tires from somewhere.

obviously on a new car you typically dont get a freebie.

some places that sell tires say they charge $10 or $20 for a rotation, but usually dont charge you, at least that's the cae around where i am.

Hmm..the ONLY thing I would bring my car back to the dealership for is the transmission service around 35k miles. That is it. Everything else I can pretty much do myself at home. And this is because they're the only ones w/ the machine that can do a complete fluid exchange the right way. I work at a dealership so I mean I know what goes on when they charge for these 10k's, 20k's and so on..
