Extended Warranty

If you intend to keep the car for that long I would do it. First time the nav unit has an issue, or something else electrical, it will cost you that much just to have it fixed.

Yup $0 deductible. I just went out to my car to look at the paperwork and verify. I paid exactly $1750 for it at my dealership. The original price was $2265 but I negotiated it down to $1750.

i got the extended warranty on my IS as well for 7yr/75k. According to my finance rep its basically an extension of the 4yr/50k warranty, so whatever that covers, the extneded warranty will cover too. Also this is a manufacturer's warranty, not some 3rd party crap like Acura so often does.
I got it for $1450 after the rep initially offered it to me for $2000 and i said go to hell.

Well I plan on getting a new 2007 GS350 (Green V.. color) and I have checked warranty for it- quotes from two Toyota Dealers (out of state) who agreed to sell me the Lexus Platinum Zero Deductible- 7 Yrs/100K for
$1585... that my friend is a KILLER DEAL!
That is $310 lower than your price of $1895.
If you can get it for that price at your local dealer... GREAT.. if not,
maybe you can send me a buck or two.. and I will give you the two
contacts I have.

Not only do I not have to fork over the money early, but I actually earn interest on my money. If a Lexus proves as reliable as they say it is, then I get to keep my money and not prepay for repairs that I may never have.
Planning on financing? Great! Then you save even more when you put the $1600 away in a medium risk investment on the day you buy your car.
When my warranty would have expired, I will have actually made some money assuming I had no major problems. Extended warranties are always a losing proposition unless the cost of your repairs are greater than the $1600 + interest on your loan + interest you would have earned on your money if you would have invested it instead.

Actually, I have a killer deal for you. My financial advisor says to put my extended warranty money in a medium risk investment.

If you are that worried, take those dollars and invest them.

I did the 7/70k extended with my dealer. If I do not file a claim against the extended warranty by the end of year 7, I get my $$ back. In writing. Worth the piece of mind. Dealer is happy as they get a no interest loan and can possibly make $ off my $. Seems to be a win win.
