Buing a new '06 IS350 tomorrow: $33,943
After deciding between a used '05 Audi S4 (V8) and a new '06 Lexus IS350, it came down to one thing... The IS350 is quicker by .2 second average on my GTech. The S4 has a Milltek exhaust, intake, and program/chip. Seems crazy, but it goes along with Car and Driver (etc) times.
I hit a 5.8 in the S4 and a 5.6 in the IS350. It was about 90 degrees today. (As an FYI, some of the other cars I've GTeched are a Magnum SRT8 at 5.8, supercharged '05 Mustang GT auto at 5.6, '06 BMW 330i (auto) at 6.6... Plenty more but those are the similar ones.)
There were more reasons than that alone to go with the IS, but it was pretty surprising none the less!
The IS is a $38k and change MSRP so no NAV. Seems like a great price unless I can buy this same car for $30k used, but it doesn't seem like they're any less used than what I can buy it for new??
Anyway, unless I change my mind tonight, I'll be picking it up tomorrow!

regardless being on this forum or not . i would've chosen then IS350 anyway. i don't like audi's~. on top.. the S4's aren't so reliable i heard and plus the S4 is modded and the 350 is still faster.. so yeah. btw.. i think you should get navi because other than the mapping there are so many other features in that thing that make it worth getting

I agree on the S4 reliability. I wouldn't own it out of warranty, that's for sure!

Sounds like a decent price. What I want to know is, what did you pay for the Gtech, and where did you get it? Also, did you test all those cars for 1/4 mile times? If so, could you post those numbers also.
Thanks.
Thanks.

We have the NAV on my wife's Prius (soon to be going away) and it's nice, but just isn't worth the $2,000 or so to me. Plus I have a Garmin handheld that I can move around from vehicle to vehicle if I REALLY need Nav.

Was that IS you tested with the Gtech broken in? If not then you will expect even better times once it is. Also if you were on a test drive at the dealer I've heard that they don't put the the 91 octane in it. If that is the case then it might even be faster!

man....it pains me everything a thread like this comes up! Those in the US have it so good!! For the price of a fully loaded IS350, you can barely get the entry level IS250 here in Australia. But then, we dont even get is 350 model!! I am sooooo jealous!!!
Enjoy the IS350 dude! If it was me, I would have chosen the IS350 also.

$33943 is Dealer Invoice (MSRP of $38,234). OPtions are 18" Wheels with Summer Tires, Premium Package (Heated Seats, Wood, etc) and the Preferred Accessory Package (which I think is the wheel locks and floor/trunk mats).
It's not the "out the door" price since I still have to pay Tax, Title, Doc Fees, etc... I can't touch that car used around here for less than $37,000. Doesn't make sense when I can buy it new for that!
As far as the GTech... I did GTech most of my cars 1/4 as well. As for the Audi S4/IS350, I didn't have the room. I used a small road that was Commercial and there was no one around. But I couldn't do a full 1/4 mile. I can tell you from the feel of it that the IS was pulling harder and harder as I was running past 80mph. Not that the S4 wasn't, but I think the IS would have continued to pull away. Based on 0-100mph and 1/4 mile times of the magazines, the IS is more like an AMG55 or M3, whereas the S4 tapers off some near those speeds, although not a lot.
And yes, the IS I tested was brand new off the Dealers lot (sorry to the next owner). Something like 15 miles on it so it would be no where near broken in. I have yet to test a car that is as close to the magazine times as the IS. Car and Driver has a 5.1 0-60 and I hit a 5.6. Most cars I'm testing here are between .6 and 1 full second slower than what the magazines are getting. So once broken in, I think the IS is going to be even better.

This is the strategy everyone should follow. If you wait until the end of the month, the dealership usually wants to work w/u on your number.
