Changing stock sub?
since the thread failed in the audio part of the forum, i thought id try it here..
i was wondering if anyone knew the size of stock sub and the amount of watts it is getting through the stock amp and if it was possible to change the stock sub for a better one. The isx50 probably is using a multi channel amp to power all the speakers and subs at the same time and so if the watts the amp is putting out is too low for the sub, would i need to disconnect it from that amp and buy an additional mono channel one to power the sub by itself? and anyone know where the stock amp is located at?
btw i dont have ML.

i think the stock sub is 8 inches. If you get an amp with speaker level inputs you can tap into the wire running into the sub for a different amp and different sub. The stock amp is located under the plastic panel in your truck on the far right side.

I need to learn how to read?!...the link shows you the size of the sub. The rest of the stuff he was asking about, i am unsure of... so I didnt post anything else. For instance if cmusic and mofogasm had clicked on the link, both would have been proven wrong, the subwoofer is not 7 or 8 inches...it's 7.5 inches, so check your comments before you post rookie. holler

Personally, I am purchasing a Polk SR124 12 inch sub in a box along with a JL audio 500/1 amp. Will cost about $1000 with install. That will more than do the trick for my needs. BTW, I have the ML.

What if you waned to replace the current Sub with another sub that FIT in the place the stock sub currently is in and add a nicer amp with the new nicer sub?? Would this help w/ the system, and or is it possible??

It does use a multi channel amp and it is located on the right side of the trunk, underneath the plastic panel. Your wasting your money purchasing a sub and not getting an additional amp!!
