Not at all..........that's the same rpm as my car running 80.... My benz was humming along at 3000 rpm at the same speed. Both 5th and 6th gear are overdrive ratios. Sweet!!!

My car is just over two weeks old, and I already have that issue. Hell, I had that issue a week ago. Is that sort of shifting sort of the default with the transmission?

I floor it from a stop, and it's in second gear by 2500 RPM... I'm thinking it's because of the rate at which I put the pedal to the floor. I usually don't feel quite right just crushing the pedal, so I take about a second or so to put the pedal to the ground... and in that time, it switches to second gear.

I don't even know up to what speed this car can "safely" go in 1st gear.

Odd thing is, like the thread creator, I drive fairly quickly when I can (which seems like at least about half the time), yet the tranny still decides to treat me like a baby.

Oh well, it's alright. I can just use manual shift mode when I need to.

See if truning of the nanny button helps. You need to press the button from a FULL STOP for about 5 seconds, then you'll get 2 yellow warning light instead of one.

It also helps if we know the "rules" by which the transmission is playing - not that it will fix anything, but at least we know what to expect from the tranny. This is from the TIS repair manual for the 2IS:

I complained to my dealer about this in February and they shrugged and told me all ISed are like this. Keep complaining to your service centers, and maybe we'll get a software fix of our own.

Will do mslatter. But perhaps we should be complaining to the head office instead, I doubt the dealer’s really care.

Thanks for posting that chart Javier. That one is a keeper for my personal files. A reminder that our cars can do 109mph in 4th gar is always nice to see especially when we have two more gears to play with!
