Default Using Power Mode all the time? Gas Mileage or other ill effects?

Hi Guys,

Is there anything wrong with using power mode all the time? I really like how it handles the gears. In normal mode i feel like i'm often in between gears when i want mild acceleration.

Has anyone done any MPG comparisons or more importantly is it ok for the car to leave it in this mode?

TIA

Your foot controls your mileage.

you can do it and tell us. how does that sound?? if it harms the engine, the power mode would of never been built in.

A little less than average; about 1-2 mpg less.

But then again, when I do have the PWR mode on, I am quite lead-footed. I don't drive "normal" with it on. There is a huge difference in my driving style when I drive "normal" and when I want to drive "enthusiastically" with PWR on.

Do you use your E-shift with the power mode? I tried it the other day and I just launch. Not as fast as my s/c bimmer but my GS3 is turning to be fun...sometimes.

My experience jibes with Philip's: a drop of a couple of MPG when in power mode. But like him, I tend to turn it on when I'm doing "spirited" driving, so that may account for much of the drop.

With gas prices going down... I'll leave them on all the time!
