Default Best place to buy a new IS350

I'm the market for a new IS350, I want Nav and black interior (if that makes any difference).
I'm wondering where is the best place I should go to get the best possible deal on my new ride? ANYWHERE in socal is cool with me, or anywhere within 250 miles for that matter, I just want the best deal possible. I was thinking Desert Lexus just because they're in the middle of nowhere.

As of a week ago today, Lexus of Glendale had a used '06 IS350 loaded.

There's prolly 12 Lexus dealers within a 25 mile radius of LA in SoCal. My suggestion to you is to email all of them with your specs and how much you are willing to pay and see who responds. I did this and ended up buying my IS from a dealer that matched the best price I was quoted. I also recommend you buy at the end of the month - it worked well for me . . .

I emailed all dealerships within a 400 mile radius (about 45 dealerships), and ended up going with the one that gave me the 2nd lowest price off MSRP. Over $3000 off IS350 sport special order.

Yeah I sent out a few emails. Turns out the closest dealership to me is willing to do about $4k off the 06 350 w/ML Nav & Lux package (under invoice). I dont think I'll get abetter deal than that...its like a 350 for the price of a 250.

Not so fast... Be careful here...

First, I don't think $4k off MSRP on IS350 with lux/ml/nav is "under invoice". Who told you that?

Second, a 2006 is considered a "used" car so you should base the sale price on edmunds.com or kbb.com, not MSRP. Edmunds lists the value of a 2006 IS350 with 0 miles and lux/nav/ml as $36,800. So go based on that...

You can probably get a 2007 for just a little more than $4k off msrp, so unless you specifically want a 2006, buying a 2007 now is a better financial decision.

I dont see why a dealer sell a 07 that just came out for 4k off MSRP, if the car hasnt been titled its not "used" Deal would be easier to crack on an 06

People have gotten $4k off 07 IS 350's... I got over $3k off and mine is a special order...

A 2006 is used car. Why? Because they are not producing it anymore, and the 2007's are sitting on dealer lots...

The fact that a car has not been titled doesn't mean anything... What if there was a 2005 on the lot that had never been titled? Would you think that's still a "new" car compared to a 2007?

Yes, you are right, a deal is "easier" to get on a 2006... But, you have two choices:

1) Take the easy path, and get an so-so deal
2) Take the harder path, and get a great deal

For me, it's an easy choice, I take the hardest path and get the best deal possible!

My options are to get a 2007 for the same price as the 2006, except the 2007 would not have the luxury package (no ML sound, programmable seats, etc). I was thinking that to me, I wouldnt mind the 2006 that you get a little more stuff with for the same price as the 2007 with a little less stuff. Which is a better deal?

Here's what I came up with on edmunds for the "used" 2006 with zero miles (IS350, ML Nav + Lux pkg): Other's are paying $42,425, MSRP is $44235, Invoice is $38,468.

New 2007 (premium pkg & standard Nav):
Other's are paying $40,260, MSRP: $40,260, Invoice shows no figure??

It seems to me that the 2006 model is actaully a better deal, or am I getting snowed? Let me know your opinon..I might be buying today or tomorrow.

Oh and I think I forgot to mention the price on both is $38k. I think it comes down to knowing if the lux & ML is worth the hit in year...anyone with these options chime in and let me know if they're worth it.

A car is not considered "used" unless it has been titled. It could have miles on it and be a year old and still be sold as a new car.
Also, why would a dealer give 4k off a 2007 when they still have 2006's on the lot?

OK, let me help you out... First, there are 2 luxury packages, the normal luxury package, which has msrp of $3,495 and the luxury with 18" wheels package, msrp of $4,215. Which one are you offered on the 2006?

Second, as you see from edmunds, MSRP is $44,235, so $4000 off that is $40,235, that is still $2500 OVER invoice. So if they are offering you that car, with MSRP of $44,235 for $38,000, that's $6,235 off MSRP. That's OK... I think you should get at LEAST $7000 off MSRP for that car though, so offer them $36,800, which is what edmunds says the car is worth.

Finally, if they are offering you a 2007 with NO luxury package for $38k, that sounds like around $2000 off MSRP. That's an ok deal as well, but you should get at least $3000 off MSRP on that car, so again, offer them under $37k and see what they come back with.

Bottom line, I think you need to get at LEAST $7000 off MSRP on that 2006, and $3000 off the 2007.

As for the lux/ml or not, honestly, it's personal taste on what options you want. Personally, I wouldn't get an IS without either sport or lux package.

Here's what luxury package adds:
- Auburn bird’s-eye maple interior trim
- Perforated leather-trimmed interior
- Power tilt-and-telescopic steering column
- Lexus Memory System to control power driver's and front passenger seats (except lumbar), outside mirrors and steering wheel
- Heated and ventilated front seats
- Illuminated doorsill scuff plates
- Power rear-window sunshade
- Rain-sensing intermittent windshield wipers with mist cycle
- Electrochromic (auto-dimming) outside mirrors with auto tilt-down in reverse
- Bi-xenon High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps
- Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS)

If you decide you MUST have those, then you should get either the sport or lux package. Also, realize that you don't have to just pick between those 2 cars, your dealership can get you a 2007 with lux and ML if you want, you may just have to wait a few weeks...

Hope this helps! Oh, finally, keep in mind that I am a pretty tough negotiator, so when I say a deal is "so-so", many others will say that the same deal is "great"... Bear that in mind if you decide to consider my advice... Good luck!

Why? Because no one wants the 2006's and other dealerships in the area are selling the 2007's at $4000+ off MSRP...

Hey bro, thanks a lot for your input. I think they have offered me a good deal and I think I'm the kind of guy that would be happier getting much more off the msrp driving a "new" 2006. I also think that you are right, I can probably get a little more off. Why settle for the first offer they throw out there, there's always room to negotiate on the first offer, right? The packages they offered have 18" wheels so I'm assuming its the more expensive lux package. And thanks for the breakdown of options, I think I "need" those haha. I'm gald lex finally is doing tilted reverse mirrors. I was kind of bummed that my previous GS didnt have that option. I'm going to go play hardball now. . Funny thing is I called another nearby dealership and they said they couldnt even come close to that price and said she knows the other places prices are much lower and doesnt know why the other dealership does that since there still arent that many IS cars. Guess I'm never going into that place.
