Since my last oil change 3-4 weeks ago i haven't heard the noise even once .... i wonder if even a 1/4 or half quart difference is all thats needed to eliminate the noise. I am not too worried about it at this point.
Can anyone comment on the TSIB for the mirror ... is the fix effective????

i had this clicking as well, took it to the dealer and they said they had this happen before. They did some job where they had to take out the cams (what they said). I got it back and havent heard it since . . . all good.

My car just went in for the same issue. 10K miles =(
Is there anything we can do? I mean a brand new car gettin MAJOR engine work is not good. Being as widespread as it is won't help the value either.
ClassAction??

MAJOR engine work? Are you kidding or just not familiar with engine work? Removing and replacing the cam drive is no more complex than replacing the timing belt in older cars. This is FAR from major work, as the heads are not removed, the crank, rods, and pistons are not touched, and this will not diminish the value of the engine in any way. This is undoubtedly better than some other manufacturers who have been losing entire engines to spun bearings and other fundamental engineering issues they've got wrong in production.

I just got my car back after 3 weeks. So far, I haven't noticed anything wrong. No noises so far. If any noises come back or anything worse happens, I will certainly post the info.

ARGH! My VIN falls in the range, but I had never heard this noise until Saturday when it did it twice (of course it was in front of my father-in-law ). I wish I were in Sacramento right now to fix this...I'm not looking forward to having someone do this locally.

Yeah I am embarrassed to start my car in front of people now because it sounds so bad. I took it in before this TSIB was released and of course they said they could not replicate this issue. Now I will walk in with this in hand to get it done. But I hope I am not going to have to wait the insane amount of time to get this done.

took mine in on the 27th of August and they called me yesterday to say it wont be done any earlier than September 21st
apparently the necessary parts are hard to get. i was told they're waiting on the exhaust manifold gasket and who knows what else...
@lobuxracer - any word on yours? plus, exhaust manifold gasket, can that be correct?

I have not taken it to the dealer. I have a friend in town from Dallas and he's driving the Lex while I drive the Supra this week. I'll be looking into it next week.
