they fixed my car a while back, the noise is gone but now it's back. My oil change is due so if it still making noise again after the oil change I might have to bring it in. What's the warranty on this car, 50k miles? I'm at 37k now .

UPdate
Two weeks ago i left my car at the dealer since part finally arrived after 1 month waiting for them. I took them 4 days of labor to change the camshafts sprockets and according to the guys doing the job it seems that he only thing diferrent with the ones that came in the car was the part #'s.
It also seems that the job was not as easy as explained on the TBIS. Originally i though it was only a matter of removing the heads covers, but in order to take out the sprockets they said that the timing belt need to be removed and to do that you need to remove a lot of thing from the from, they even had to bring down the cross member. It might happened that they arent that good technicians or who knows.
For now, almost two weeks after the work, the noise is gone and actually the car seems to be faster.

Add me to this list too. I've noticed this sound during start up for quite a while now, but didn't think it was coming from the engine. Today is the first time I started it up with the door open and noticed how loud it is. I have an appointment on Wednesday to have them check it out. I'm going to try and get a sound clip of this tomorrow morning if it does it again.
At least I'll have the TSIB handy to bring in with me. Hopefully it'll get me somewhere.

Wow, I didn't expect this type of response from my question. That sound clip is exactly what I'm experiencing. I'm only at 11K miles and I'm due for an oil change, so I'm going to bring it in to the dealer and see what happens!

Dealer called and said "everything is fine, it's just the injectors".
I know it starts fine - now!! I told them about the TSB and that it happens intermittently usually during cold starts, and they said "TSB's are only if the problem is there, its not a recall".
So frustrating. They agreed to keep the car overnight, so we'll see.
That Santa Monica Lexus is pretty ghetto, especially the service area btw.

engine noise
has anyone had their IS350 repaired under the TSIB for engine noise?
I'm having the same problem during cold startups but have not taken it into the dealer yet. I am curious about the results of the "repair" and how long you have gone since, to see if it really fixes the problem.
Also what's the approximate wait time for these parts?
Thanks, appreciate any input

Hmm... my noise wasn't as frequent or loud before. However, I was driving my sister's car for a week and left the IS alone. After 5 days I started the car and I heard the noise. This time it was REALLY loud and lasted about 2.5secs instead of the normal 1 sec.... Sounds really painful...

i got the fix, here's the situation.
i brought the car in for them to hear it, they had to keep the car overnight because the noise can be replicated but only after the car sits for a number of hours. they heard it, then ordered the part. took a little over a month to get all the parts.
had the fix done earlier this week under warranty. the noise is now going, thank goodness because it was quite the embarrassment. they kept the car for one solid day to do the fix, so i got a loaner overnight. they said they had no problems whatsoever is performing the work according to the tsb.
here are the details from my invoice:

for those that got this done can you tell us where and if they did the fix without hearing the noise on demand? like others have mentioned, its about 15-20 start ups for it to occur and i am reluctant to get rejected for not being able to replicate the noise at the expense of looking like a fool.

I am having the same issue regarding this rattling sound. I am about to take my IS 350 to the dealership for a 20K service. I noticed it around 18K. I hope to have some additional feedback when I return. I actually sent this link to my rep to see if he can be proactive about the solution. It's frustrating when you want it to make the sound, but never does when you try to show someone.

If you do a search on "rattle at start up", you'll find numerous threads about this issue. There is a TSIB on this. I brought my car in for this and they had the car for 3 days.. One of the threads has a sound clip attached, so you could compare that to what you're hearing on your car.

Mines in the dealer right now and they actually tried to tell me it was my Fujita intake making noise...
I was like, "You are kidding me, right?" I even gave them the TSIB number and said, it is doing this and has been getting worse. Service adviser must think I'm retarded. They are going to try it in the AM and see, since when they tried today, I had driven it to the dealer an hour earlier.
