Default Mute Stereo?

Am I retarded? I cant find a mute button for the stereo on my 350 with ML Nav. I also searched the forums and dont see anyone complaining about this.

i dont think the NAV equipped IS has a mute button...only when you do voice recognition or you pick up the phone...

i dont think most cars come with a mute button... none of the cars ive driven had one at least. you could just press the power button or turn the ****.

The Non-ML has a mute button, it is located on the headunit. Should really be located on the steering wheel.

hmmm...actually, most cars I've owned had a mute button. Most were on the steering wheel, unlike my 2IS.

Press and hold the "Mode" button on the steering wheel for two seconds
and the audio turns off. Press again and it resumes.
Not a "mute" but this works fine for me.

That is kind of a silly statement. "Most Cars" or most Lexus cars? My base model Mazda3 for $16k MSRP has a mute button the steering wheel.
I've also seen it many times before on other cars much cheaper than my lex.

It does? Maybe the Non-ML and Non-Nav do.... I have Nav and no ML and I don't have a mute button. I just push the power button if anything.

I prefer pause buttons to mute. One of the things I did not like about my non-nav/non-ML 2IS was the lack of a pause button. I listen to CDs probably 98% of the time and when I need to hear or talk over the audio system, hitting the mute button lets the CD to continue playing. Usually when I un-mute the system I have missed a major portion of the track I was playing. When I pause I don't miss anything.
