XM on 2006 IS
I was told by the dealer that on 2006's they dont use the sharkfine but a small black antenna mounted on the trunk, is that right? Does anyone have a pic? If true can I paint it with touch up paint to match my car (silver) or will that degrade the quality of reception?
Thanks in advance for your help

The trunk is the best place for reception, but lots of people have mounted the antenna on the rear parcel shelf and still had adequate reception. If I were getting XM, that's where I would put it.

I just had the XM installed and yes they put the antenna on the parcel shelf. So far it seems to work fine, but I think if you live in an area where there are a lot of mountains, you'll have signal fading. If I drive up some of the mountain roads in LA, the signal comes in and out at times. Overall though it's OK and you wouldn't even know I have XM from the oursde of the car.

Hi, while having the XM installed in my ES350 (inside near the third brake light) by the dealer we also talked about my wife's IS350 location if she wanted it. Yes the parcel shelf works well and they knew some dealerships had installed it "under" the flat plastic area of the third break light near the glass. That would make it out of sight and it worked ok (I guess there's room under the plastic for it). I wonder if anyone else has heard of that location?
