did you get to watch dvd on this hack?
#381
im not really willing to spend 600+ on a hack that you can basically do for cheap...however i guess you have to get an fm transmitter or such to watch tv stations instead of straight dvd

ya i like your method. But if you do that way instead of gettin navtv do u still see "check your surroundings"?

if you want to watch tv you have to get a tv tuner of some sort, same goes with the navtv unit you would still need a tv tuner. navtv just allows you to input a/v signals. you still have to provide your video source (dvd player, ps2, etc).
i have the ps2 in my glove box, i still have to find a way to mount it better. with the a/v & power connections in the back and the controller in the front it's a tad bit big for the glove box. so right now its sit up on an angle.
and yes with the "cheap" way you have to deal with "check your surroundings" see this pic...

i got the switches from here, http://www.oznium.com/gsw-45 you do have to file the opening on the lexus a little for these to fit, but it's not that bad and they're the closest thing to OEM looking switches. check out this thread for the switches and pics. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=253264
i used an inverter to power my ps2. i have a small (link below) in my center console/armrest area. i ran the power lines of the ac adapter from there to the glovebox. so in the glovebox i have the ac adapter and ps2. ideally we would just want to find a dc/dc converter instead of wasting power and converting the energy back and forth. i found this but at that price

i didn't remove anything to fit it in there. it's just stood up on a 45 degree angle to stay in there. still gotta figure out a better permanent way to do it. the stupid wires sticking out from the a/v port, power, and controller makes it a lil big.
i did put the wires through the hole for the in-cabin air filter on the is350...
