Ron... this is a complicated procedure. It is not a typical DIY.

I can briefly explain, but the installer must have some skill level with Audio/Video Mobile electronics, otherwise, it will be chaos explaining how to do it.

The jargon I may use may only be understandable by installers.

one more thing i might add, installers charge at approx. 400-500 to install the NavTV unit only. Just to give you an idea how much skill you must have.

istundra, thanks for the response regarding the multiple switch question. Here's another for you to ponder...I was thinking why doesn't the in-dash CD player work with playing dvd's after installing NAV TV? Why the need for the external DVD player. I always thought non-ML and ML in-dash readers had the same lens. Are there no audio/video out's on non-ML in-dash player's? Is there no way to wire it as such?

Maybe this would answer your question...

Nav w/o ML - CD Changer. Reads Audio CD ONLY

Nav w/ ML - DVD Video Changer. Reads Audio CD, Video CD, Audio DVD and Video DVD.

Adding NavTV will allow DVD Video Changer emulation, hence allowing Audio and Video Feed via RCA. The system would actually think that it is a ML Changer and allow Audio and Video from the RCA of the NavTV.

If you install NavTV, when pressing the DISC button, you may select the following:

CD Changer
Aux
DVD Changer (NavTV) for Auido/Video

thanks again istundra...so basically no way, no how. ML and non-ML's have two completely different disc players with different internal components/chip sets. No way to trick/rewire a non-ML in-dash player to read DVD's....that is one hack I'd love to see. Thanks for the input.

BTW, have you had an opportunity yet to test your Nav TV with an Ipod?

-Relay 2: Enable DVD on non-ML's. [switch allows usable aux port when not in DVD mode; no timeout/lockout problem noted for hack]

Switch 2: Nav Hack (2) to enable destination entry while on the move. [switch toggles hack mode "on" which creates jumpy nav, destinated entered, then driver switches "off" to go back to smooth/normal mode; locks out after 1 or 2 minutes when switched on, but can be reset in a few seconds]

wow.. I think someone might need to clean up the nav hack DIY.. cuz I cant find the DIY where I can add the switch and relay...?

Nav Hack 2 have its own thread so that easy to follow. ...

I still need the 1st nav hack diy
